DWF meet 'n greet

I figure its about time for us to get together again, drink some beer, eat and generally shoot
the breeze about bikes.

So, what are y'all up for?
I'd suggest someplace easy to access for both the Dallas & Ft. Worth folks.

Marty

It'll kind of depend on when and where for me. I'm not a big beer fan, but am a food fan.

'Cuda's house works for me, too! He just painted and replaced doors and stuff. Actually, anywhere is good for me as long as it's on the weekend.

Weekends are good for me too. Even better if it's somewhere the train stops.

Depending on the weekend and the head count, I actually probably could host it, but I think somewhere that the food (and beer) is made to order is a better option.

Custer, if you need a lift to the location, I'm sure my truck will have an empty seat up for grabs.

Hey Marty,

Good idea about having another get-together. If we ever want to have another evening at my place like we had for Dale Brown just let me know. We can either order pizza, or my brother-in-law (who was the "chef" at the picnic), can fire up the grill for dogs and burgers. I also have a real nice pouch for keeping the food hot.

good Idea.

Okay, no one has stepped up except for David. So
last call for suggestions, otherwise we'll agree on some location and just post it.

I'm not picky on location, just somewhere where we can get food, drink and chat without being too disruptive or run out for need of the tables. Oh, and I never disagree with TexMex!

I know that the FW half of the DFW equation has requested something on their side of town. Might be cool for the D portion to meet downtown and jump on the TRE and meet the FW portion somewhere in the middle? Thoughts.

Sounds fun and I should be able to make it. We could have it at Bass Pro's Big Buck. That seems to be about half way. If you want it in FT Worth what about the Flying Saucer? I think that is close to the TRE but I'm not sure.
I'll throw a date out also. What about Sat. April 10th???

I'd love a Fort Worth get-together. There are a couple of groups that may get into it- CycleBABBLE (local bike bloggers) and the recently minted Bike Friendly Fort Worth. If the TRE is involved, I recommed a Saturday, preferably not the last Saturday of a month, though (although not necessarily a deal breaker). I think meeting at the Intermodal Station downtown (second-last stop on the TRE), or maybe even the last stop (Texas & Pacific Station) would work. If Trinity Bicycles is open by then (they are a block or two from the T&P), we could check them out, then maybe ride the Trinity Trail up to the Stockyards for some grub up that way.

Here's a suggestion: https://tinyurl.com/FWRide. It starts from the T&P Station, rides by Trinity Bicycles, then runs north through downtown (not too bad on a Saturday), picks up the Trinity Trail goes to the Stockyards, returning to dowtown via Samuels Avenue, then going to the Intermodal Station where folks can pick up the TRE. Total mileage is a short 9 miles, and you get to see both downtown and the Stockyards. The Uptown area along Samuels is being revitalized as well.

Edit: The Flying Saucer is in the middle of downtown at 4th & Commerce (a block off the route I mapped), so that would work too. I still like the idea of riding up to the Stockyards first, even if we don't stop there, just so people who haven't been there can have a peek.

I think the 10th would work for me; is that the day before Easter?

Do we have a time yet? Maybe 11:00 am, then have lunch at Flying Saucer (they have food, right?)

I just found out that April 10th is the weekend of The Main Street Arts Festival. This can be either good or bad. Good, in that it is a cool event that is worth coming out for; bad, in that trying to plan a lunch in the downtown area might not be too easy. We could possibly ride up to the Stockyards and eat there, then come back for the Festival, or just eat fair food downtown.

Thoughts?

This discussion started a few weeks ago, then abruptly died. Is anyone thinking of coming out to Fort Worth tomorrow? It looks like I need to lead a club ride tomorrow morning so I won't be able to do this...
