Routes, Rides Dallas TX area.....

Will be in Dallas area over the next month or longer.....Irving. Looking for good routes or weekend group rides if weather permitting. I am an experienced rider with a 15-17 aver pace in the hills of Georgia (slower with my winter weight!). Tj

Don't know much about Irving. I think General Cycles is over there and might be a source of info.

Well you are 5 or 6 miles north of my house. There are plenty of ride possibilities in your area if you are going solo. I'm not aware of any groups that meet in that area although there are groups that meet elsewhere in the summer and ride through that area.
The easiest route for you to get 30 miles is to ride from the hotel west to Macarthur, south on macarthur to kinwest parkway, follow kinwest to the west to royal lane, then follow royal lane to the northwest until it ends. Royal lane and kinwest are good roads with very light traffic.

If you check the map on google or something similar, almost all of the roads west of macarthur and between 114 and 635 have light traffic and are good for riding. Similar for roads west of beltline, north of 635, east of highway 121.

You can check the GDB website to see if there are any group rides mentioned.

It is pretty cold here now but should be better by next weekend.

Great! Thanks for the info! Looks like the weekend will be better. I will map this route on Map My Ride. That would be perfect to get a 25-30 mile ride straight from the hotel with light traffic. Expecting my bike to catch up to me today by brown. Tj

You can use the google streetview to see what the road looks like at various places. If you wanted more distance I could tell you what streets to add on, but it becomes more difficult to find streets with light traffic.

I have ridden city streets all over the Dallas area and you can do this pretty easily with a group, but when I'm by myself I prefer streets that I know have light traffic.

Thanks for all the help. I was able to do a 25 mile loop from the hotel this afternoon. I took Kinwest to Royal and then did the DFW loop and back. Really enjoyed the day!
