ARTCRANK ATX: Bikes, Art, & Doing Good

ARTCRANK, a show of bicycle-related artwork from local artists, will open in Austin at Pine Street Station on February 22, 2013, with a blow-out opening night party. The show features 30 local artists' handmade, bike-inspired posters, available for purchase. The opening night will include a selection of craft beer from Widmer Brothers Brewing and exclusive ARTCRANK pint glasses. Proceeds from the night benefit the LIVESTRONG Foundation, an organization that provides free support services to those affected by cancer. The show continues to run through March 17 at Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop. Other sponsors this year include Clif and Neenah Paper.

ARTCRANK visits Austin for the second time after its 2012 debut here. Shows have been held in nearly a dozen cities since its inception in Minneapolis in 2007. In order to keep the artwork accessible to everyone, the shows are always free, and the format is always posters, so everyone can take a piece of original art home for an affordable price. Artwork is created by local artists, and in every host city, a Cause Partner is selected: A local, national or international organization that's using bicycles to make a difference in communities, help people live better lives, or just make the world a better place. ARTCRANK seeks to raise both money and awareness for these organizations.

ARTCRANK is a unique exhibition that seeks to capture the intersection of bicycling and creative culture. ARTCRANK's mission is to use creativity to change the way people think about bicyclesand grow the cycling community. Come out to see the show, support a great cause, support local artists, and support cycling in Austin!
