definitely. wished i could have gone to the ride last night even though I didn't know her. couldn't make it though.
i wrote a post on my blog about her story and riding in the roads from the perspective of a cyclist: http://thesurlybiker.wordpress.com/2...s-perspective/
Thanks 10 Wheels
I was there. I didn't know her, but I felt like we were making a stand for bike commuters in the city.. That and to commemorate someone who was just a baby as far as bike commuters go and gone much too soon.
When I drive to work I pass by where her ghost bike sits and my bike route home is nearby.. It could've been me or any other bikers I know. She was doing nothing wrong.. She was lit up with lights and she wound up back shot by a car; likely a drunk driver, but could've also been road rage that game of chicken some drivers play when they've hooked their inner child and forget that they are piloting a 4,000 pound projectile.
There is even the possibility that it was a nut. I've come across people like that. Someone so jacked up on their own delusions that they feel that they know the rules and are willing to take action to make others comply to how the world works in their mind. No bikes in the street and bikes should be away on the sidewalk.. Willing to yell, threaten and buzz the cyclist to get the point across..
Nice tribute in all respects.
Does anyone know if HPD has caught the perp yet?
not that I have heard.
i'm a member of the critical mass and bike social facebook pages and haven't seen anyone mention it. they're pretty on top of that stuff.
Thanks for posting the photos. I wanted to go, but I was out of state.
I ride past her ghost bike every day I bike to work. :(
