New England visitor looking for riders near Spring TX Feb 23 - Mar 2

I'm planning to rent a road bike and get some pre-Spring training while visiting relatives in Spring, TX. Can anyone help me catch some group rides?

On March 1st there is a great bike ride in Baytown (east side of Houston). The Gator Ride usually has 2,000+ bicyclists. Ride information at this link:
http://www.gatorride.org/
Several events and clubs in the Houston area. Visit www.Texbiker.net for the event calendar and list of clubs.

Thanks for the quick and friendly replies. Unless my son moves, I plan to be a regular visitor because his newborn is our first and only (so far) grandson!

Where in Spring does he live? I live in the Spring-Klein area. I don't do a whole lot of group rides, but I try ride every weekend. How tall are you? I may be able to help you out with a bike too.

Wow - thanks for offer. My son lives on Prairie Bird Dr. I'm 5'7". Even if you can't help with a bike, we should go for a ride.

I have Trek 470 that is labeled 56cm, but the seat tube measures 53cm center-center, and the top tube measures 55cm center-center. Do you think it might fit you?

I wish it would, but the specs show that's the 2nd largest frame made. I think it would stretch me in the wrong places. I'll PM you when we arrive to follow up on a ride - okay?

50 mile ride at 18 mph with a group I passed going the other way and then caught. I kind of overdid it though and will recover tomorrow.
