Faulty Ortlieb Ultimate 6 plus

Thought that I would upgrade handlebar bag from a very cheap one. So I went for the best (I thought).

When it arrived and I unpacked it, I noticed after a while that it only closes on the left side!? It turns out that the factory forgot to put a magnet on the right side.

I contacted ortlieb by email more then a week ago without answer.

Has anybody encountered this?

I've always found Ortlieb (USA) to be very good to deal with. E-mails get lost in the ether, end up in spam folders, get overlooked, etc. Find their phone number and give them a call, or at least try to e-mail a second time.

I had an Ortlieb 5 that failed. The pop snap on one side tore loose. It was obvious it was a manufacturing mistake. After sending CRC pictures, they asked me to send it back to them, sent me a new one and refunded my postage costs

I have contacted the seller. They say that I can send it back but I they have no black versions left, only red. And I bought it from a German store, while I'm in Sweden(can't find them in any stores around here).

And I would of coarse have to pay the 20$ shipping my self. I just had to vent my frustration here a bit. You buy a brand new product from ortlieb that is faulty on arrival, and then you have to spend 20$ to send it back. And ortlieb does not even bother with answering emails. I guess i have to fix it my self some how.

I have broken two buckles on my panniers and ortlieb has sent new ones free of charge. You should not have to pay $20 shipping for a defective product. Keep on them and insist that they pick up the freight.

But Ortliebs are god and god never fails ever; )

Is just a little yoke. Ortlieb's make a fine product but sometimes things happen. Give them a call and if nothing else shoot another email. Explain the situation and be calm about it but be clear you shouldn't pay shipping on a new product.

Small rare earth magnets are fairly inexpensive , a drop of epoxy to fasten it to the bag ? Seems like an easy fix for less than the cost of postage... Just thinking out loud here. I know its frustrating to get a new product with a defect , we've all had it happen, Ortlieb is a great product and I feel bad you have not gotten satisfaction from them. Maybe their stuff is SO good that the customer service dept does not get any practice
