Road bike or touring bike

smart move going with what you knew works for you.
as for the touring bike trip, if you can, plan for slightly shorter days, as riding a loaded bike is pretty hard , especially if you havent done it before. But in the end, depending on your age, fitness level and all that, if 60 miles is to where you want to go, just leave early so you can go at a pace that is easier on your knees et al. No matter what, it will be a good learning experience and a good intro.
again, have fun, thats the whole idea.

just razzing you 10 wheels, I hope you have fully recovered from the injuries from quite a while back.
ya, he wrote this response, was on the first page, sounds like he had a good time, and hopes to do a first tour soon. cheers
"I ended up using my road bike. I did this because I've never done a multi-day ride and I didn't think it was a good plan to change multiple things while on the road for 5 days. Since I've had my road bike for years I know how my body would react with it.
Hopefully before it gets too cold I'm planning on doing a short two day unsupported ride using my touring bike where each day is 60 miles. If something happens then I have family no more than 60 miles away from me. I think that will be a good start to using my new toy.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions."

It is a common decision to make..Supported Tour...Road or Touring Bike?
I was offered a loan of a touring bike for a 4200 mile tour.
Had my road bike ready to roll.
Took the touring bike and regretted that decision.
