Transport Brookings to Vancouver, BC

Hi all. Any suggestions on returning to Vancouver or Victoria, BC on public transport with my bike after cycling the Oregon Coast?

Greyhound Bus is one option. You'll have to box your bike and it takes a day and a half.

Bus to Eugene, then you can take the train north from there to Vancouver BC.

Amtrak Rail lines cross the Cascades , so are further from the coast south of there .. Klamath Falls Etc.

Turning inland at Florence Oregon is direct to Eugene.

You might want to check on bus service in Brookings. It has been awhile, but I lived in Brookings for four years and don't remember any bus service.

My wife and I had a family emergency happen when we were just north of Brookings making it necessary to abort our Pacific Coast ride. The best way we found to get back to our home near Eugene, Oregon was to keep riding south to Crescent City, CA and rent a car at the airport.

We didn't have a choice, but if I remember correctly it was not that expensive. It would be an easy ride from the Eugene Airport, after returning the car, to the train station.

I checked and Greyhound does run out of Brookings. It runs up hwy199. If you tell its website to take you from Brookings to Eugene, it takes you to Medford and then has you spend the night before transferring to a Eugene-bound bus. Alternatively, one can get off the bus from Brookings at Grants Pass, wait around five hours and then catch a bus to Eugene with a total time investment of 12 hours.

I would be more inclined to rent a car at Crescent City and drive it to Eugene to catch the Cascades train. No boxing necessary and the short ride from Brookings to Crescent City is kind of nice (get off hwy 101 as soon as possible per Caltrans Pacific Coast Bike Route)

Alternatively, leave the coast at Gold Beach and head over the hills to Grants Pass. Take the Greyhound from there to Eugene and then the Amtrak Cascades home. Sure, you miss a short section of the coast, but the coast hills between Gold Beach and Grants Pass certainly adds a little something to your trip.

This would be ideal in my opinion.

I was hoping there would be some kind of local bus service from Crescent City to Cave Junction, then transfer to a bus to Grants Pass or something but I sure didn't see anything going.
