Actually I just wanted to post the cool picture of hundreds of miles of "nothing" that I experienced while touring Alaska. I didn't make any statement, more less a judgement.

Didn't say you did (sorry), but it was in a series of other posts with pictures about why hammocks won't work. I should have picked another pic.

I don't think anyone was making a judgement call; we were just responding to the following post about tree availability:

I'm still thinking about slinging a hammock from one of those poles on the side of that road.
I wonder how many truckers would hit the air horn as they blew past

A couple other things... First roadside reflector poles can be pretty flimsy sometimes being plastic and second I question that many would really camp that close to the road. I'd bet most folks hammock camping there would wind up using the hammock on the ground like a bivy in that locale.

Liquor and weed are much lighter. Also, that's a heavy stove you got there. The Litemax is a whooping 40g lighter.

No smoking of any kind for me.
If I wanted to go really lite I would carry my homemade alky stove and burn Everclear. Drinking, fuel, and wound treatment all in one.

But I don't drink to get buzzed or hammered. Beer or single malt because I like the flavor.

I see the problem!
Alcohol clouds the mind and makes it so hard to figure things out.
Stop drinking, in a month you start to feel better, in 6 months your mind will clear up, in 18 months you will be happy for the first time in years. That's right, it takes 18 months for your brain to return to normal.

Alcohol is bad, very very bad

Sitting in a car driving, not on my bike clouds my mind. Biking makes me feel better. Go to A&S for a fight. Not here. Next up. Light weight beer cans vs bottle aged brews on tour.

I take bottles over cans, and they are in the fridge of my camper when I am on tour...

Sir, go beer the car forum
stop making legitimate cyclists suffer through your alcoholism.

Alcohol alters your neural pathways. It takes 18 months for your brain to return to normal.
Put your fingertips on your temples, just inside there are the pathways that are altered for so long.

A sober person could figure out what this means!
A sober person could figure out how to pack their bicycle in a lightweight manner.
A alcohol guy would car camp on a bike forum without knowing the difference,

It's a truck camper actually, and Having a few cold ones after a good day's ride is not alcoholism... Just to stay on topic, having a support vehicle with one on ones trip doesn't make the riding the bike that much easier, but having, a support vehicle does mean I don't "suffer" from a lot of things that I would call "suffering" through while camped, if I was UL biking... Some motorists or truckers might even slow down or stop due to thinking someone was having a problem.

I'll back up chrisx's statements with my personal experience.
Unless you've had the monkey on your back you have no idea what it's like.
