OK Great. Maybe this thread will die now? Can you change the title 'I've got my solution!'?

I don't need to know where you are working.
I'm currently working at my desk.
And I live in a home by choice.
I have a dog. She came with my wife.
We have maple trees in the front yard.

It's not really your job to police the title of threads or to tell others what and how they should post.
If you don't like the thread just move on to the next one... People kicking the same old dog gets a little old after a while.

Can I just quote you here, and say it back to you?

Sure. I realize the irony. How does it feel having someone criticize the way you post? How would it feel after the umpteenth time. It gets old.

I sort of think if someone feels compelled to post they can expect replies appropriate to the quality of their post. I keep hearing "if you don't like it, ignore it" or "just move on." As far as I know, this isn't the Kumbaya Klub where everyone gets a participation medal.

Can you clarify, are you referring to Tim (Bikehobo)?

Usually it's those with no respect that refer to basic expressions of respect as the "Kumbaya" club.

bmike, surely you cannot be oblivious to the constant criticism Tim experiences due to his posts. Thus the "repeated". If a person gets kicked many times by one person or once by many people they still get kicked many times. Does it make it any less offensive to have only kicked once.

People with lung cancer cough. People with speech impediments lisp. Asking Tim to not show the effects of mental illness when he posts is like asking those people not to show theirs. It only reveals the ignorance of the person asking for such a ridiculous proposition. He has a mental illness and wants to participate on the touring forum... get over it already.

Surely respect should be earned? Or is it like a participation medal?

So you are saying a mentally ill person has to "earn" your respect? Man...

You guys keep pointing out one persons posting flaws but sometimes a certain type of person helps to point out ours. I'm not particularly religious but I keep thinking of that quote from Matthew: "how you treat the least of your brothers...".

And it is a participation forum so... yes, medals for all who do so. I did not read the part in the TOS that tells how you should do that other than to show respect and not be a jerk.

I bet if I reviewed your posting history I would find something different...

And no I'm not anyone's caretaker - just someone who dislikes the constant bullying of one member because an illness causes them to post in a less than traditional method. I am also someone who is fairly intelligent, fluent in English and able to negotiate an international forum easily. I count myself fortunate by the grace of whatever God there is to be in that position and try to have some empathy for those who may be less fortunate.

YMMV.

Oh man, Happy, you are taking a lofty position! Could you be incorrect in your assumptions? Is it possible that folks on this and other forums may have some special knowledge? You could Google. Aside from that, people post, they get replies. They don't like them, they can counter or ignore. Pleased to know you are fluent in the language of your country- time for a medal!

Not too interested in a pissing match. I think I've said my piece and don't wish to engage in a personal grudge any further. I dislike behaviors, not people.

In case you really are new to this; yes, every week someone else decides it's their job to try and tell Tim how to post, where to post, what to post, how often to post, what font to use, accuses him of being a sock puppet, suggests he collects lazy crazy pay blah blah blah... like I said - old.

I believe you opened this can of worms with your post #57 . This issue will be resolved as it has been on the other forum. Sooner or later.

If you mean I called someone on a behavior that has been repeatedly discussed yet continues to happen - yes I did. And I will when ever I see it until I get banned or people get the message. Evil only continues to exist when good people sit by and do nothing... or something like that. I will not be a silent part of a forum where marginalized people are mistreated to the point that they feel they do not belong.

You could say that was what the other person was doing initially but there is a difference between bad manners and the effects of mental illness... unless of course you don't realize that and then I can see where the confusion lies.

Read post #18 https://www.bikeforums.net/touring/10...ping-rain.html I suppose different judgements could be made. Marginalized and mistreated? Welfare fraud at the other extreme. We are all free to assess other members and act on those assessments, so long as we don't violate forum rules. Don't need any lectures, thanks.

Tim, I have fixed a fiberglass pole with duct tape on an old dome tent years ago and it still holds, but the pole bends at a slightly funny angle. It works though as an interim measure.
