Bicycling in Midsomer County

I've become addicted to the British murder mystery series called Midsomer Murders that takes place in a fictional Midsomer County, actually South Oxfordshire. I'm going to be visiting the area and wonder if there are published bike tours of the area. There are several driving, and even walking tours, but I haven't found any for bicycling.

And watch out for murderers ... they kill 4 or 5 people per episode.

You can tell what's going on by the screams. If you hear one, think... do you run as you might be next on the list, or do you stay and watch the detective work unfold?

Good luck with sussing it out, jobtraklite. We've been into Midsomer Murders for years.

Season 18 of the show features an episode called Breaking the Chain and revolves around a bicycle race. We watched it last night on DVDs rented from our library. Rival teams and rivalries among riders on the same team with brothers, sons of the team owner dad, the main focus of the investigation. Toss in a romantic triangle or two and friction with the locals and it made for a satisfactory whodunnit. Bike nerds will be intrigued by the background activity, with machines being wheeled about and tended to, with only an occasional flub. What is a bike with cantilever brakes doing in the repair stand of a road racing team? Is anyone really racing that bike with straight bars?

Indeed. Midsomer has a violent crime rate 3 times higher than London's worst neighbourhood.
