Off road cycle tourer
Hi,
I'm hankering after a surly ogre as my one bike fits all tank, but having serious problems getting hold of a large frame in any colour in the UK- I've been waiting 5 months and have just been told it will be at least another month or so.
So, I'm looking around the market for anything else that might suit my needs. I love the versatility for the ogre with all its braze ons and mounts, I was thinking salsa fargo but am too attached to my Jones bars so wasn't sure that would be the right fit of frame and bar.
I'm also thinking of the specialised AWOL but it's far less flexible than the ogre and fargo.
Help! Any thoughts on what I could consider?
Cheers

Have you looked at the bikes from Thorn? They are in the UK. They have several models that use 26 inch wheels.

OP, what about bike24 or hibike.com?
I was going to ask about Charlie the bike monger but see he's out of L frames.
PS. I've read of people rockin J Jones bars on their Fargo's.
With your proximity to Europe on your doorstep, I'm wondering if the World Troller (for easy air freight) might make more sense.
Had it been available when I made my Ogre frame purchase, I might be now rocking 26 instead of 29.
What did you think about the ECR?

Yeah I've looked at Thorn a fair bit, love their bikes but a little out of my price range at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for the offer but I really wanted to go with a 29er rather than 26, any reason why you aren't using it?

The World Troller looks an absolute machine, but frame costs are up near the £1000 mark I think so its a little out of my price range.
The ECR looks good too, and frame prices are roughly comparable to the Ogre, but its the same problem with the ECR's - stock just seems to be really low for some reason.
Awesome - thanks for the tip, I'll have a look. Like the look of the Fargo, hopefully somebody has positive reviews of using it with the Jones bars!

This bike from Germany (or the Czech Republic?) is awesome and seems to be the equivalent of the Ogre.

They also have an XT and a Deore version (Trekking groupsets, rather than straight MTB groupsets).
That Rohloff-equipped model is a cracking deal though, considering the hub alone is worth almost half the asking price.
