It's pretty common for people to dump their garbage out in the middle of nowhere. I found what must have been an actual ton of expired curry in tottori prefecture a while back.

Chain looks surprisingly clean too. One would think an int'l tourist would have a spare link, perhaps chain was left by a local? BTW a positive trend in USA is that folks including motorists don't litter near as much as in decades past. On a local ride I saw what looked like a discarded throw rug but was actually a huge skunk nestling in the weeds with an impressive mop of long hair.

Here are the aforementioned hats being moved to the new place. A few more have been found since but I'm not as avid about it as I used to be. Most were found while driving, and not while on a bike, but since I was repping in the bike biz I figure this is a crossover hobby.

It was Northern CA, but I would have to go to another computer to dig out the GPS records to see exactly where I was on the day the photo was shot, too much work to do that.

Does lying on the side of the road chuckling count?

But my timing sucked!

I'm sorry guys; I'm down for 6 weeks post-op, and have a lot of time to go through a lot of photos. I'll try to do better

A roadkill raccoon wearing Mardi gras beads next to a smashed Bud Light can. Actually, this has become a sort of a tradition on BAK. (Biking Across Kansas)

After seeing picture of some peoples bikes, I'm afraid that if I left my bike on the side of the road it would pass a junk.

What if that junk (in this case...the Brooks sisters) on the side of the road want to come along? Always enjoyed this shot.

That's one guy who can't be elbowed aside in a sprint! Modeled after any specific rider?
