Jandd Racks bunk?
I'm curious what others think. I tried selling my heavy duty Jandd rear rack on Craig's list twice now and no one wants it. I paid sixty and am asking 35. I don't like it because it's big and clumsy for the around town commuting I do. I also figured if I do tour, I'm not going to carry 50 pounds of stuff on the rear alone. Curious what others think out there. Thnx.

I can't answer about why your rack hasn't yet sold, but I recently bought a new Trek rack which was not very clumsy looking. It was rated for up to 50 lbs. It only cost $35.

The Jandd heavy duty racks are wide, long, bulky, and overbuilt. I have one on my Tourer. I love it, but it is for heavy duty use. $35.00 for one in like-new condition would be a pretty good deal. How used is your rack?

Craigs List buyers are cheap. Put it up for 20 bucks and you'll sell it to the fifth sketchy person who anwsers your ad, after the first four offer you ten for it.

Thanks for the feedback. Bekologist, my intuition tells me your assessment is pretty close. It was sixty new, for twenty I'd sooner give it to a good cause or friend. Or trade, hmm.
Regular Guy Who Lives In Dixon, I'm in Chicago and it has a slight gouge (from pannier mount), aside from that it's pretty perfect. If you know of someone in Chicago, let me know,, ciao. |
See if anyone wants to barter it for anything. I've done that lots of times.

I only paid just over 20 bucks for my rack. I haven't seen a 35 dollar rack at the lbs yet, and after searching the other bike shops in the area it looks like I'll have to order over the net for a longer rack. Of course if I knew the model of your rack and it's length, I can get on my lbs to get me one. Thanks. |
I lucked out & bought my rear Jandd off craigslistBoston (cheap!), from a chap who previously did a crosscountry. My front platform Jandd I bought new.
They are bomber racks! See if you can't sell/trade them here, or on the Phred touring e-mail list serve. Where someone will appreciate it better. |
My experience........... all I-Net buyers are cheep cheep cheep.Know the price of everything and the value of nothing
I put an ads at the local Whole Food Store or Wild Oats Store bulletin boards |
That would be the "Trek Interchange Backpack I". I bought it at my local Trek dealer this Spring. Actually, it was priced at $29.99, and the Lbs. limit is printed on the rack as "up to 50 lbs". It states that it "fits bikes 20" and under". I don't have any other measurables on it right now.
