I have been reading this for the last 6 hours! Its a very long read, but well worth it if your thinking about riding the trans america e -> w ride.

I read it about a month ago. Could hardly turn off the computer, I just wanted to go on reading.

Some of the other narratives on his site are good, too. There are disappointments galore, but lots of little unexpected rewards that make it all worthwhile--usually--for the tourists.

It's a very, very good site.

I have always thought Miles From No Where by Barbara Savage was the best read until I got my hands on "Cold Beer and Crocodiles" by Roff Smith. It's a nine month bicycle jaunt around Australia. Roff has a wonderful way to capture the true feelings of a long ride and put them on paper. Great book!
