Don't know about the performance stuff, j&g makes great stuff: www.bicycleclothing.com
Never tried their rain jacket, but I have their yellow jacket and really like it. Others have said good things too.

I have a burley rock point rain jacket. Burley Web Site
I like it - zippered underarms, vented in back, elastic ties at the bottom.

GoreTex XCR is the latest greatest in waterproof breathable technical clothing. Look for this in whatever you are going to consider and be prepared to pay up. OR, you can save alot of money by realizing that when it comes to heavy exertion, clothing that will keep you totally dry in wet weather is still on the "To be invented" list. Keeping the rain out isn't that hard. Getting the sweat out is. Still, materials such as Goretex XCR will do the best job of keeping you as dry as possible. Also, many riders, joggers, hikers, etc., invest big money in a waterproof breathable technical shell and then wear non wicking base or mid layers. Doing this defeats the purpose of the shell. If a rider isn't wearing breathable clothing that wicks sweat away, a rubber rain jacket and pants will do just fine.
