I've never really done any touring from city to city. I plan on doing rides soon from home (Austin) to San Marcos to San Antonio for some experience until I save up money for my big tour I'm planning. Has anybody done New England? Any tips? I have places to sleep and have fun in Boston, NYC, and Philly so I plan riding between these. I'll probably only have one bag and just stock up on food and water whenever I find cornerstores along the route. Also, I'm looking at travelocity to get to Boston and from Philly. Are there cheaper air fares? Greyhound? Whats it like packing up/transporting a bike for air travel?
It'll be two months from now, whats the weather like? The wind goes from north to south still in the spring right? (I hear it switches in late spring to a northern direction)

Here's a site I came across that has a fairly detailed account of a few guys' trip from Philly to Boston. (opposite direction from you, but still should be helpful. they also did the whole thing on fixed (!) bikes, so those hills through CT should be less of a problem for you if you have some gears to work with. Good luck!
