Going to my Happy Place
Perhaps you are like me; looking out the window on a bleak landscape of naked trees and rain sodden skies.
On these winter days I take solace in my faith and on the belief that the sun will once again return from the southern sky and shine upon our countenance once more.
When that doesn’t work any more, I close my eyes and imagine a green forest on a late spring day. The birds are joyful and are singing their anthem. There is a breeze that gives the nose a fresh, forest smell and there I am in my hammock having communion with nature.
Is there anyone else out there who tours for moments like these? Tell us about them.
You betcha! I'm trying to decide how and where to cross the Coast Ranges and then get across the Sierras. This time I'll have my system set up to snowshoe across. As for the weather - one of the nice things about Wyoming is the winter sunshine. Yeah, it's windy as all get out today, but the cats are all stretched out in the sunbeam and I've been out on the south porch reading. If the wind dies down, I'll go for a long walk. I prefer walking on cold days.
I'll send you some sunshine as a file attachment.
Best - J
Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm in Southern California where it's in the upper 70s most of the time, and the palm trees are framed up against the blue sky, and I MISS MINNESOTA! Last winter, I biked to work and classes every day, bundled up in tons of layers, sometimes #@!! at the ice--but now staying with my family in California, I realize how much I miss the winter. Maybe my "happy place" is the snow covered Lake Calhoun, my face all red from the cold as I pedalled along...
I try to operate under the theory that all weather is beautiful in it's own way. Still, winter is my least favorite season. At least here we get some of the bluest skies and an occasional warm day. Your 'moment' sounds great. Don't fret because the sun and warmth is on the way.
