seatpost rack...anyone tour with this?

seatpost rack...anyone tour with this?
greetings, all!
my Ritchey Breakaway doesn't have eyelets (and i'm not sure even a tubus quick release adapter/OMM rack will work because of the little curve/overhang in the dropout on the frame above the quick release bolt) and i'm thinking of touring with it (3 weeks in France, in June!)
has anyone toured with a seatpost rack and panniers? is this a bad idea? i'm aware of the weight restriction of 25 lbs., but i'm more concerned with it sliding around the seatpost or generally not being as stable as a standard rack.

I commuted with one for awhile and I can't imaging using one for more than a few miles at a time. When the panniers were loaded with anything more than a few pounds, I could feel the whole thing swaying. Hope you find something that works . . . 3 weeks in france sounds great.

I did a weeklong tour last June in hilly NW Wisconsin with a BOB trailer and could've used a rear rack trunk bag for quick access items. The BOB really is a great way to go for those of us with bikes that don't have eyelets for racks/panniers. However, I've read a few comments of bent BOB skewers. Don't know what's up with that. I haven't had any issues with the skewer. Can only speculate that those folks might not be taking care when backing the BOB up....binding/jackknifing???

I've used a Performance seatpost rack (pannier style, with side pieces) for years on several bikes, and so long as I don't wildly exceed the weight limit it has worked fine. I can also recommend the BOB, but I only use it in places like the Yukon where I need a lot of cargo. French grocery stores are incredible, so you don't need to carry all that much even for camping. (Hint: don't carry a 5 liter jug of wine, no matter how good a deal it seems.) Have you considered front pannier racks, which can be fit on most front forks, including suspension forks? I use some on European trips, together with my pannier rack. Bon voyage!
