Raleigh NC to Maine to Indiana and then back to Raleigh

That's my route as of now(but I'm sure I'll alter it quite a bit!) for a tour that I'll be doing this summer. It's very flexible after I get up to Maryland. I'm trying to find a good route after Maryland. Before that I will be riding on the Blue Ridge Pkwy and the Sky Line Drive. I've looked at Adventure Cyling's maps for that region of the US but their Atlantic route sticks to the coast and I am wanting to stay in the mts. till Maine. Any ideas on a route from Maryland to Maine?
Also, I'm plannning on riding in Canada from Quebec City down to Montreal then Toronto, crossing over the border near Detroit then through Michigan and down to Indiana to see family then south through KY, TN, and back east to Raleigh. Any route ideas on this part ?

Any advice, tips, etc. would be much appreciated.

BTW-I've been a commuter for years and have done two tours. Once from Raleigh to Asheville and the other time from Raleigh to Wilmington. Fully self-supported and stealth camping will be my method.

Thanks,

Gabe

Gabe - Hwy 8 thru Augusta, KY is very nice with light traffic since there is a new express highway just a few miles south. It follows the Ohio River. From there you can follow some nice roads along the Tug Fork - mostly on the Kentucky side. As you know, practically any of the 600 series Virginia roads are sweet.

Well here it is almost December and I never did my tour.

From now on my touring plans are "to have no plan" that way I won't be disappointed if I don't go touring anywhere.
