best find ever bianchi touring bike 50.00

so to day i went to my lbs to get some new bar tape for my bianchi track bike.outside of my lbs they have all the bum bikes that are way cheap nothing good normaly but i always check.i couldent belive it a 1980 bianchi touring bike racks and all steal and made in italy i couldent pass it up 50.00 bucks yeah my lbs rocks so its in way good shape considering its 2 years older than me all original decals minor rust shifts great and the whole deal.I already have one project going but i cant wait to start this one but i have a few questions.
on the top tube it saiz reckord m strada whats that mean is it the model name?
it is a little big for me but comfy once im riding the problem is the wheel size is 27x1 1/4 i looked around at some online places and the size seems odd where can i get tubes/tires and if they can be swapped out for 700 or 29s or 26s will that make the top tube higher like i said its kinda tall already
anyway it saiz piaggio vespa on the head tupe i read on anouther post that piaggio owned vespa and bianchi it has more than one sticker that saiz made in italy and one that saiz italy 1980
it has of mega cranks huret downtube shifters and universal brakes and a cool itm quill stem and handlebars
anyway ive been interested in doing so touring for a long time and i hope you guys can help me with info especially on the wheels. its gonna look sweet with a brooks and some mustache bars
p.s. everything works took it for a spin shifts great ajusted the breaks a bit it needs new cables besides that everything is great so comfy compared to my pista i think im in love

Nice find. You can get 27 X 1-1/4 tires at most LBS and even Wallmart for cheapos. 700 size rims are actually smaller overall then 27's. The only real problem going from 27 to 700 is the reach of the brakes, they may be too short to make contact with the rim.

700C and 29" tires fit the same rim diameter (some constraints on width, though, since 29ers are usually kind of fat). 700C and 27" are not interchangable. To convert to 700C, you'd need new wheels and the brakes would have to be adjusted down 4mm. If you have that much downward adjustment range on your brakes, you may be able to upgrade to 700C, but it really isn't necessary. Continental's Sport 1000 is a very nice affordable tire available in 27x1 1/4 size. Your LBS can order them if they don't stock it or you can get them at a number of places on line.
