Where to get electric converter

Most of the world uses ~220V. What a PIA when I have to go overseas. Usually I can get a converter at the hotel or from my inlaws but not this time. Going to U.K., Netherlands and Germany on bike tour.

According to the World Electric Guide they all use 230V. Plus I 'll need a Type G plug and a Type C plug. I've seen kits on airline magazines but I'm sure those cost at least an arm. Anyone know where to get these at a regular Brick&Mortar somewhere?

A travel store might have them, or try Radio Shack. I'm sure they stock this kind of thing.

It is not difficult to find converters. I can't remember where I bought mine, but it was either in a Radio Shack, an ordinary electronics supply store, or in an electronics shop that specializes in 220 V appliances.

I see you live in the Dallas (Texas) area. I bought some voltage conversion plugs and a voltage step-up and step-down transformer at Fry's Electronics. I live in SoCal, but Fry's does have a store in the Dallas area. I'll check out Fry's.

Regards,

You may know this already, but depending on what you need power for, you may just need plug adapters, not a converter, which is much cheaper. Eg, my cell phone charger works on both 110 and 220 volts, so I just take a 4 dollar adapter to europe.

These things are very common today and are very reasonably priced.
You can Google "Step Down Converter" to get a long list.
Here is a quick link to what you might expect LINK
You need a good idea of how many watts you will be required.

Radio Shack has a 50 watt converter for $20. Have a picture of the plug(s) you need when you visit the store, you can't count on the salespeopleknowing what you need (and I worked for them). Frys had a good selection the last time (2000 AD) the last time I looked. Remember more power rating means more weight.
