Has anyone built one of these. I just ordered my frame and I'm trying to get build ideas.

I have the details of my LHT build at www.vikram-banerjee.com check out the 16 July 2006 entry.

There are a bunch of different LHT builds and a mailing list here: https://surlyville.net/

Good luck!

there are a lot of lht on this forum. here is a pic of mine as a new build. i've changed a few things on it since...rear rack, fenders, different stem, replaces the chainrings with more touring friendly sizes.

What size frame did ya get?

Here's what mine looks like, it's a 54cm so it takes 26" wheels.

most of them wind up looking a LOT like eric von zippers, when people have the green frame (not current color) and black bar tape on the red and blue frames, from what i've seen of them. and i see a fair amount of Surlys roll thru the bike shop....

His looks an awful lot like mine. Hard to find silver parts, especially stems. Would like to find another sage frame in size 56 for a buddy.

I don't mind admitting that I got the idea of setting up the LHT like that from this forum. I get tons of compliments on the bike.

I got the idea from a picture of one on yahoo. I just liked the silver look. Sage silver, honey brooks and natural bar tape make the bike.

It was murraylove's bike. https://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mur...r=5f59&.src=ph

Ain't that the truth. I ended using a Salsa SUL that I stripped the black anodizing off with lye. Nice stem, but I am still thinking about polishing it up. My stem currently has a matte silver finish. Looks okay, but I would prefer a nice polish.

Here is how I built mine:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...38#post2320638

I have since replaced the saddle with a San Marco Regal Ti, an American Classic seatpost, Salsa Lip Lock, LX front and XT rear hubs, but otherwise the same.

IMO you should focus the most on the components that your body touches.

I've since swtiched out the stem on mine and I have that one pictured sitting in a box. If someone wants to make mw an offer for it, I'd be more tthan happy to sell it. Another pic of it:

I think it's about a 15% rise. Might be 20, but I'm not positive about it.The reach, I'll have to check when I get home this evening.

I built this for my boss--he wanted all black but I added a few silver accents to break up the pure "stealth" he wanted. All silver would have looked good too--but much harder to find.
