    touring insurance

Can anyone reccomend a reputable international insurance company that will cover medical, cover for damage/theft/loss of personal property like a bike or camera?

We need coverage for a month in Eastern europe.

    We are not US citizens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your country have an Automobile Association? Here in Canada there is the CAA - the Canadian Automobile Association. They have an excellent medical insurance plan which I've used several times for my trips to Europe, Australia, and the US. They also have an insurance plan to insure goods, which I used for a couple years when I lived in Winnipeg.

I'd highly recommend checking out something along those lines.

Where are you? The answers will vary depending! Have you tried your home insurer? In the UK, the Nationwide would cover you for that. Also in the UK, the CTC approved Butterworths will do the job as well for the bike, and you could get separate medical cover. We have gone with the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) for medical as their policy covers bike touring as a primary activity and will cover part of the bicycles if stolen/damaged while riding.
