    My new "touring" bike

Talk about impulse buying. After methodically tracking, bidding and losing on several used 520's,Auroras & LHT's over the past month on Ebay, I bought a new bike today for touring. Since touring for me involves pulling a bob trailer over different types of surfaces, my selection is somewhat unconventional.
I bought an Iron Horse LX '06 City & Hybrid Bike.
    Alloy frame
    manitou 60mm front fork
    48/38/28
    sus seat post
    700C wheels
    Low end sram ,shimano,tektro components
    Original price $449.99
    Sale price $339.99
    Final price with 3 day 15% off sale & a 10% off coupon-$260.00.
Probably have to upgrade a few things, but it looked too good to pass up.

I might be barking up the wrong tree on this one, but if my decade-old MTB worked flawlessly pulling a loaded bob, why should I pay big bucks for a touring bike, upgrades, racks and panniers.
My only problem on the first trip was hand discomfort.
    Now I have front suspension.
I know most people who tour, use panniers, but are they factoring in all the costs including the bike ?
You can certainly get by with alot less bike for pulling a trailer.
In this case, the whole rig will be around $600.00 delivered.
