I will be visting my father in Jacksonville, Florida in the near future, flying in to the airport, and bringing my bicycle to do some bike touring in coastal Georgia. He lives in the Southside area, so the most direct bicycle route from the airport to his house is over the Dames Point Bridge. Are bicycles allowed on the Dames point bridge? I have driven over it a number of times and it has a wide shoulder. Other alternatives might be the ferry at Mayport or the Main Street Bridge. If the Dames Point bridge is not viable, then what are the alternatives?
