spoke question

i've been reading "bici and the bee" journal about her trip from s.d. ca.,to guatamala-she seems to be replacing spokes at an incredible pace,at one point she buys 20,and replaces 1 or 2 broken ones in a few days.she does say she was warned about an inherent problem w/spokes on her bike,a fuji touring bike-is this possible?,normal?,or careless?thx

Older Fuji are notorious for spoke problems. I rebuilt my daughters wheels before we left...but I do that for any touring bike. DT Alpine III are the best spoke around, in my opinion.

I had to get new wheels the get rid of the spoke problems on my Fuji Touring (2001)
