I can tell you that for Italians cyclists, cycle-touring is not a popular pastime. Neither is it for French cyclists and both nationalities are usually into racing in a big way.

Should you want to connect with French cycle tourists, I suggest go to the FFCT web site. Click on cycletourism. It can help connect you to touring groups. This next September, I might connect with a five day tour of Provence.

Actually, this site can lead you to many various types of cycling adventures. Not sure of a site for Italians.
