400 mile trip

I am planning on taking a 400 mile trip (Chicago to the Upper Peninsula). I ride a 2006 TCR comp2. What do you suggest for hauling a tent and food during my trip? i have a large backpacking pack, or do you suggest i put it on a rack?

(any route suggestions)?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Rack....or a trailer!

The back pack will kill ya!

Depends on the backpack. When I first started out, I didn't have panniers. I did have an awesome backpack that kept the load off my shoulders and left my back exposed to let the sweat blow off.

But only the very best backpack would be anywhere near as good as panniers. Better to just get a rack and panniers now.

TCR Comp 2? That's carbon Frame, isn't it? Full carbon?

Let me change my mind here and recommend specifically a trailer!
