I got one this year, but haven't got many KMs on it yet due to winter. My tour partner in Baja just finished a 6000km tour of Mexico on one and was quite pleased.
My Thorn Sherpa blog entry and pic.
SJS cycles was very easy to deal with and my frame arrived promptly. It's well made and has all the little details you'd expect from a touring frame.

The Sherpa is highly regarded as tough, go anywhere tourer in the UK. Good quality and well put together. I'd go for it myself as they are sought after.
