I've worked in Telluride and driven in the areas between SF and there a few times. I would like to go from SF to Yosemite NP. Then past Mono Lake and Tonopah to the Interplanetary Highway. Stop in Rachel, NV and check out the Area 51 lore. Head towards Caliente, Cedar City, Kanab,Page, AZ and go across Navajo Land on hwy 160. North from the 4 corners area towards Cortez, Dolorez, Rico and Telluride.

I rode the ACA Western Express route from SF to Carson City. While it is a beautiful ride, it is 2 days of hard uphill to get to Carson Pass from Sacramento (1 day's ride from SF). It was clear from what I saw of Nevada that beyond Carson City was a lot of desert.

How hard is the ride up to Yosemite (from SF) and over Tuolumne Pass? Where do you stop on the day after Yosemite? How sparse are the services out there?

    Thanks,

    Ray

thanks there any areas just to avoid, I think im gonna pass on area 51,

this ride is a retreat for the world, but I just dont want to be isolated in the desert, the deep woods are fine but desert = no water= no fun haha
