great place to start a ride thru Bordeaux wine country. For a change try the Peche Armanac. The church doubles as a cyclists museum.

Raleigh Aspen touring/off-road hybrid, and a Bob Yak trailer. Yak very useful for us car-free types that like to buy lots of beer.

I think it would be an awesome trend for bicyclists worldwide to set out on pilgrimage to that church! Like the Camino de Santiago, but just for bikers!

I was there Saturday and the church was closed up. Local cyclists told me Lance has his jersey upon the church walls, however. I am not catholic , and I'd do some kneeling for this particular mass.

sort of like to do a screensaver of the church stained glass cycling scenes. Because the photos scroll, seems to be impossible. the rondonee listed is worthwhile and quite scenic. The path however is not thru the most famous bordeaux wine country. Most of it is forested within a National park. Still special. Most of The towns listed are within Armanac country.

Nice pics. I'm heading from Belgium to the the South-West this summer, past Bordeaux going South and then turning up the West coast to the valley of the Loire before following this across to Roanne. Up North through Burgundy and then on to Zeebrugge and home.
Armagnac is my favourite digestif as it happens and much to be preferred to Cognac in my opinion.

agree with you onbike on the value of Armagnac compared to Cognac. Cognac is much less aromatic. Love the herbal taste of Armagnac. For variety, the Armagnac with added hints of fruit such as peche or orange really can spice up the Armagnac. Ride thru the area about Auch and most of the land is dedicated to armagnac production.
