    Completed my first MS150!

What a great event it was for a newbie like me.

Rained the first day for 80+ miles. Didn't mind a bit and at times even loved it. One accident down hill on wet road. I hope they are okay. 7 bikes down on I think wet tar.

Beautiful second day with morning fog and sun and clouds later.

Only one fall for me. Loved it too. I couldn't get unclipped at the reception area after first day and just fell over. What a class act.

Learned a lot too about my bike and what I carry. I carry too much for that event.

    Can't wait for 2004 MS150!

Thanks to those here who offered some help.

Glad that you had a good experience. Congrats on finishing! I'll be riding my first MS 150 in August.

Just curious... what did you carry with you? What would you do differently next year?

    Octoberblue.

I tend to be over cautious and carry too much in any activity.

Next MS150 I would only take a couple things from the first aid kit, sun screen and lipbalm, rain/wind jacket if needed, spare tube, co2 for inflation of one tube, one allen wrench, tool for tube change, credit card cash insurance card & ID, cell phone(maybe) and either 2 water bottles or hydration pack.

Last time I Peddled to the Point there were rest stops (first aid, food, drink) every ten miles or so. I would only carry what I would normally need for a ten mile ride, which is not much. Just what I can fit into a seat bag.

The route is also east to west, so if there is any weather (wind) you will be heading into it on the way there, so don't do what I did and arrive late and play catch-up into the wind, all day.

I would also get a hotel room and not sleep in a tent or a gym. It was really hard to get on the bike the next AM after an uncomfortable day, standing in long lines, and then sleeping on the ground did not help. The ride back was more enjoyable as there was no pressure to get anywhere in time.

I also wish I took that monday off from work (tired).
