Looking for fun mtn bike tour in the PNW.
 

Heather and I are looking to spend our summer vacation (Last week of June) on a 4 - 5 night self supported mtn bike tour. I would prefer all off road, but if we need to link up a few trails on pavement, thats OK...

We are pulling bob's so trails can't be too difficult, fire roads OK, single track is better. 15 - 25 mile days would be ideal.

Any recommendations?

I'm not a mountain biker, but you might contact this great group of people. Who knows, perhaps there's a PUMP member here on BF. I know Mt. Hood is famous for their trails. Also, check out our state's bike tourism page. Finally, if you're anywhere near Portland, let me know. :)

While I love Washington, if you want to get into some fairly remote areas I would really look at the Millican Valley/China Hat/Paulina Lakes area around Bend Oregon. You can really get out there with some pretty wild geological oddities. Places like the Devils Garden, big hole and crack in the ground are pretty much one of a kind. Also when it gets too hot outside look for one of the many ice caves found around the area. It can be 120 degrees and walk down about 14 feet and it will be in the 40's with a 40 foot wall of ice sitting in front of you. Warning. . This area is hard core desert, if you arn't prepared you won't see many people to help if any at all.

Ok, just thought of a good one in cooler tempatures that includes fire roads and single track. This goes from Lake Chelan over Junior Pass and up the Eniat river valley. At the end of the valley is a great single track that goes up to a wilderness area. But right on the edge you will find a high mountain lake with a little hike in campground at the end. Reverse out of there and head back to the trail head and go down to the campground and find the Mad River trail system. That will take you up and over to Lake Wenatchee where you can catch Hwy 2 along the Wenatchee river canyon in to Leavenworth. It's a great tourist trap with some great food and nice hotels to rest at the end of the trip.

I have done all but the Mad river trail system from the Eniat river over to Lake Wenatchee. I also pulled a bob trailer and don't think it would be a problem

Starting July 4th is the annual Waterfront Blues Festival. Admission is $8 and 2 cans of food (per person). It's a fund raiser for the Oregon Food Bank. www.bbtc.org has a new trail wiki for PacNW trails, mostly Washington state. Also, I 'd recommend shooting an email to Jon Kennedy at BBTC.

You'll likely have to ride east of the Cascades or Oregon desert , as a lot of the high country Cascade rides will still be pretty snowy.

That Lake Chelan/Junior Pass/Entiat valley ride mentioned by MickeyD over to Lake Wenatchee & Leavenworth would be very nice.

If PNW could include Canada you might want to check out the Kettle Valley Railway trail in southern British Columbia. Completely off road, not overly technical, definitely wilderness but passes through towns often enough that food and/or accommodation is not an issue. I particularly like the Myra Canyon section (although it may not be completely restored after a big forest fire a couple of years ago) but I have not been disappointed with any of the sections I have ridden. Two years ago my brother and his wife did a week long tour on it pulling their 3 year old son in a child trailer.
