I'm working out the details for my first Rohloff frame. I have the choice of doing the OEM brackets either as Paragon sliders, or the Thorn sytem that uses an eccentric BB. Either way, worrying over these details suggest to me that I will be in for a time waster if I ever flat my rear wheel. I did on a recent trip and one way or another had multiple rear tire removals on the same day. Anyone using OEM system care to comment on what is involved in the typical rear tire change, and if you have any opinion on the drop style, don't hold back. This bike will not have a stabilization arm, it will be the drops' role to keep the hub firmly in place.
It is definitely easier to remove the back wheel of my Rohloff equipped bike as opposed to a Shimano Nexus hub. Having said that, my Thorn is new and I have only taken the wheel on and off once. It is much easier to remove the gearcables from the rohloff hub than un hook the pulley cable on the Shimano.
Do you have to adjust the chain tension or are the drops angled enough that the wheel can pop out? I'm not going to be using the chain tensioner, but I was hoping that once I have the wheel set I wouldn't have to adjust the chain just to take off the wheel.
