Not another tire thread..

I am almost embarassed to ask this but....

I am leaving in about 4 weeks for a 3 week tour in BC which will include about 150 miles of well graded dirt roads. I have both Conti Travel Contacts and Pasela TG 1.25s.

After feeling the difference in weight, I went ahead and put the Pasela's on. They look small on a mountain/touring frame, almost too small. However, my wife tours on 32c tires and 1.25" is equal to about that. She did about 60 miles on dirt last year and did great. Common sense tells me to go w/ the Contis which I know won't cause me any problems but I know I will be able to cover much more ground on the Pasela's due to their weight.

What would you do?

I would never choose a touring tire based on weight. Althought I think Paselas are good tires and I use them on my LHT, you already have enough to worry about on your tour, adding "Will these tires hold up" would not be a good idea.

I think you are overestimating how the difference in weight of the tires is going to have on your speed. I doubt it would be more than .5mph difference
