Does anyone have any suggestions/experience traveling from KC (Amtrak Station) to Clinton, Mo (Katy Trail)? I am looking for a route and any help would be appreciated.

Have you thought about getting off the train in Warrensburg MO? It's less than 30 miles down to Clinton at that point. I know several have recommended getting off there and riding down.

Look at the Missouri Bicycle Federation website. They have some suggested routes across the state. Also, they have a link to Missouri county road maps. Another option is to follow Adventure Cycling Association's Lewis & Clark Trail to Boonsville & then connect with the Katy.
As far as getting out of KC, perhaps you can look on Bikely. Other than that, can't help you.
I have ridden the Katy twice and mostly enjoyed it. Be sure to lower your average daily mileage estimates since the road chat really does lower it by at least 20% .

This will be our 4th year riding the trail from Clinton to St Charles. I was just thinking that we would extend it from 3 days to 4 days and ride from KC. That is if I can come up with a route that won't get us killed.

Here's a route to check out...
https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1061716
I can get you South out of town, but I haven't ever been to Harrisonville, so I'm not sure what the roads are like past about 130th.
On the map, I include the Trolley trail, which goes from 55th and Main/Brookside Blvd to 95th/103rd.
It is 80 miles to Clinton, 40 to Harrisonville, so depending on how many miles you want to put in, that's where you can stay.
Good luck. I thought I saw a route on the katy trail site somewhere, but I'm not finding it now. You might post your request on their forum.

I've got the KatyTrail dialed in. I am just looking to extend it to KC. The plan would be to Amtrak St Louis to KC on Wednesday. Ride KC to Clinton on Thursday. Clinton to Booneville on Friday. Booneville to Rhineland on Saturday. Rhineland to St Charles on Sunday.
Just need to get from the train station to Clinton.

I dont think there is a safe bike route to Clinton from KC. KC to Boonville is possible. I think it would take a couple of days.
