old school shoes wtb?

i am using mks touring rat trap pedals with clips and straps. i prefer these to clipless, but the puma sneakers i wear do not have a stiff enough sole for anything over 30 miles. does anyone have a source for old slotted cleat road shoes or advocet style touring pedals. i found some on nashbar but only in small sizes. i am a 45.

any recommendations are appreciated.

If you must keep the old style pedals, people make slotted cleats which fit on new road shoes.

Pair those with a stiff-soled set of road shoes on sale from nashbar or whatever.

Over at the fixie forum, Adidas Sambas--indoor soccer shoes--seem to be the bee's knees. People say they are fairly stiff, but that's pretty subjective.
