Cape Cod

My dad has some time off and for whatever reason, he wants to go to Cape Cod. Provincetown, specifically (yes yes we all know what that town is famous for hahaha) but it will just be me and him and I plan to explore by myself a bit. So I'll bring my bike along. Is the cape bike friendly? And recomendations for where to go and such?

Cheers

Never been there, but.....

[hijackthread] 'Divided Sky' is a good song, great for riding! Nice name. [/end hijack]

The tip of the Cape is very bike-friendly. From P-Town, head to the outer side of the Cape and proceed south through the National Scenic Area. Marconi Beach (a.k.a. Coast Guard Beach) is one of my favorites.

Cape Cod is very bike friendly. There's a path that goes a long way (I took it from Brewster to Coast Guard beach). It's a very smooth asphalt surface, devoid of any significant hills. My only problem was with the people on it. Where I'm from, cyclists don't ride side by side when crossing other people. It can get annoying if that sort of thing irritates you. But then again, it's a casual ride and when you're on vacation, that sort of thing should get to you, after all, you're just cruising!

There's also a path on Martha's Vineyard that's nice, but the cost of getting there is a bit steep IMHO. We rode to South Beach (on Martha's Vineyard). No idea about Nantucket, haven't been.

Also, near Provincetown, there's a nice bike path that lets you go to a few beaches. Very very nice, although a bit short, but a must visit in my opinion. I don't remember the name, but it's right next to provincetown. The surface is a bit narrow and dated, but the view largely compensates and it's still much better than crushed limestone. There's a few sharp hills but nothing that should be a problem as they are relatively short. Also, some sand can get onto the track. Definitely not the place to go too fast!

Awesome. Thanks for the replies, i'm looking forward to this. And that last picture looks AMAZING, I always thought the cape would be too dirty for such vistas

Glad to be of some help. Ride up to or park you car here to be in those pictures ;)

P-Town is fun too (unless you're homophobic of course, which you don't seem to be from your previous comments). My gf and me got there (not planned for that specifically) on the busiest day of the year, during the carnival parade. I for one wasn't aware of the town's reputation until I noticed rainbow flags everywhere.

That day turned out to be one of the high points of our vacation.
