musty panniers

Just got a set of bellweather rear panniers which I'm guessing have been sitting in a basement for about 30 years and they're very musty smelling and quite stained. Any advice on how to freshen them up a bit and remove some of the grime? Any particular cleaning products to recommend?

Thanks
Maria
