    waterford adventure cycle

Does anyone out there own a Waterford Adventure Cycle or RSE 22? I am contemplating purchasing one for commuting, long rides(with fatter tires and fenders in foul weather) and eventually bike-camping trips. I'd appreciate comments on workmanship, your experience with the company and ride quality. Also I 'd like to hear what you're using your adventure cycle for and whether it fits your needs. Thanks.

Waterfords I have seen have impeccable workmanship, the best |ve ever seen. Maybe too good to leave locked up outside every day on a commute . In my experience, you shouldnt feel too precious about your utility bike.

My wife bought a Waterford Adventurecycle a couple years ago and it is one of the best bikes I've seen. We've taken a couple short tours on it and it is stable and comfortable loaded. She uses it for all her road riding as it is the only road bike she has. But unloaded it is very light feeling and quick. I think it is an excellent choice for a all around road bike.

OK, so I'm a little late on this, but I heartily second what Spanners said. I got my Waterford Adventure about a year ago, and I have never been happier with a bike in my life. It fits me like I was born riding it, and the workmanship is simply superb.

What I like about this bike is that it does a number of things well, thanks to the gearing I ordered and its ability to handle a wide range of wheel sizes. I mainly wanted a custom bike because I am quite short and I couldn't find a production bike that would both fit me well and serve the multiple purposes I had in mind. I have used it for touring, quick training rides, and lazy meanders along unpaved country roads, and it performed well in all cases.

It's probably not quite the thing for racing and it's definitely no MTB, but as an all-around versatile road bike, it's a champ.

I own one of the older RSE-11's it is a Reynolds 531 not the newer 853 version. I scored mine for under $450 shipped on ebay in excellent condition. It is a really great bike. If you can wait try ebay for good deals. Waterfords are expensive new but don't seem to hold their value used. Which makes them excellent deals on the used bike market.
