Where to Sell My Trek 520?
I'm getting close to selling my '90s Trek 520 touring bike. Question is where to sell it, here on Bike Forums or e-Bay?

I'd try craigslist first, then bikeforums, then lastly ebay. That's where my Paramount is going.

Ebay is the way to go. Regardless of minimal fees, the larger selling price will easily compensate. Ebay is a bike SELLER'S market. Not so hot for buying.

It depends....
If you want to get your bike into the hands of someone who will care for it then this is the place.
In about 50% of the auctions on eBay something illogical happens. Perhaps it's the competitive nature of auctions or the fact that buyers have a PayPal account bursting with funds unaccounted by their spouse. Whatever the cause, items on eBay, listed with a low opening bid by a seller with good feedback will often sell for far more than their new retail price.
Just the other day I watched a year-old Sony notebook close on eBay for double the price it could be purchased new from BestBuy.

craigslist! I've sold two bikes on craigslist with no problem. I state that it's a local sale only and cash only. Sold both bike to people who live 75 to 100 miles from where I do. No shipping problems, no scams.

I have used Craigslist, Ebay and Bikeforums successfully for buying bicycle related stuff, never selling. Never a problem with any of them.
Craigslist is a limited market in my area, but I look at it occasionally to see what is listed.
I would probably sell on Ebay to get the best price. People complain about the fees, but I would rather pay the $10 in fees to get the much larger market... Even if specifying local pickup only... So many more people look at Ebay than Craigslist or Bikeforums.
Unless you are in an incredibly hot market like New York or San Francisco, in which case Craigslist might be a way to get a good price for a quick local sale.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't really think of using Craigslist. I don't go there much myself, but it's worth considering.
As for e-Bay costs, I'd have to pay the $25 membership to sell it in The Market Place here.
