When I did the TransAm last summer (Aug. '07 to Nov '07) I was surprised to find how many people in Kansas have ridden across the state. We must have talked to 8-10 people who had done the ride.

We ran into one older gentlemen in a grocery store who started asking us about our trip. He said that he was turning 78 in just a few days, so we wished him a happy birthday. He mentioned that he rode when he was younger and even rode across Kansas, but has gotten too old to ride anymore.

We asked, "Oh wow, when did you ride across Kansas?"

He answered, "Oh... when I was young... 2001 I guess."
