Lots of New Touring Shoes! Which is the best?
Hi,
Just finished a tour and my poor Sidi MTB shoes are done for (still usable, but no longer walkable because all the plastic lugs are gone so no traction). I prefer to tour light so I really did not enjoy hauling my sneakers. I haven't bought shoes in awhile so I don't know what's available. Could anyone recommend touring shoes (SPD compatible) that are also truly walkable? I mean comfy enough that I could use them like normal shoes on my non-riding days to walk around town and take short hikes and so on. Looking for something entry level to mid-range. I found a couple of old threads with dated models that are no longer available. Anything recent would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Cheers |
Keen Newton Sandals

I'm planning on buying a pair of the Keen Commuter Bike Sandals at REI (http://www.rei.com/product/765247).
I love the Newport sandals and this mixes both their best sandals with clipless shoes. |
Specialized Tahoe, I just bought a pair 3 weeks ago and they are easy to walk on ,No weird lugs or "earth shoe" feel. I paid $70 at LBS.

i've had both a pair of mtb shimano spd's for a bout 6 years that are for cold weather, and my shimano sandals for everything else. When they die, which I dont think will happen for another season or so I'll probably try the Keen's just for something different. |
Thanks all for your suggestions.
Sorry, my internet connection has been down. I had a pair of Shimano awhile back and can't remember if Shimano tends to be narrow or smaller than regular sizes. Cheers |
