Its a shame the bbc links only work in the U.K. as they are showing episodes 3 and 4 next week.

Quite a program and an amazing adventure I must say. Makes me want to hit the road.

If you go to youtube and search on "the man who cycled the world" you'll get all five parts of episode 1. Really good viewing, I definitely recommend it.

Just waiting for episode 2 now! Can't wait!

Mark Beaumont's main web diary appears to be here.

He used Marathon Racer (700x35) tires, with DRC ST-19 rims. From what I can gather on the web, these are 32h wheels, partially explaining why he had the spoke breakage problems (presumably the other part being the Rohloff hub, as mentioned in the show).

The following is info about his bike from this website:

Mark’s Koga-Miyata Signature.

Some changes to this spec are listed at the bottom.

Signature: Mark Beaumont

Saddle: Selle Italia FLX Man leather
Seat post: Satori Aluminium 6061 black
Saddlebag: Koga Classic
Handlebar: Koga Multigrip
Stem: PRO adjustable stem Ahead
Grips: Koga foam
Pedals: -
Mudguards: SKS Chromoplastics 28″
Rear carrier: Tubus LOGO
Carrier accessories: Rubber strap
Low-rider: Tubus ERGO including kickstand

the 3 is covering up the 81 in the IP. 81.99.134.44 port 11033

Now go to the bbc site, download the iPlayer, and download anything you want.

Worked for me, the proxy server in the images was great, 200kbs steady for me.

I can't troubleshoot for you guys, but thats what I did and it worked.

It seems it worked for one other forum member as well.

I'm working with dsl, with dail up I think its not the same. If you are on dail up forget it, its 230 megs.

Also what didn't work, what errors do you get? As I sugested use the iplayer app and download the content rather than stream.

The videos look like they are wmv (uses windows media player) and have drm like features.

The files expire, and delete them selves (or disable them selves) after some time.

any know what kind of saddle he used? it looks like it was bent downwards or does that come standard from the manufacturer? I checked the Koga Miyata website and it does not look like the same thing as what is on he's bike. I figure it is worth a look considering this guy biked around the world on it.

Selle SMP, they have a few different models. Not sure if it's the Evolution or Strike model, they all look so similar.

Finished watching the first 3 full episodes on youtube. This is so excellent, how can you ever tour the North Americas again and ever whine after seeing this.
