how do you carry all the equipment(body,lens,notebook cables etc) on your tours?I am thinking to get the Ortlieb Shuttle bike,or maybe a Pelican case.I f I dont get any of them I think I will use one of the bag to put my backpack inside one ortileb

I sometimes take my SLR along in my Arkel Big Habdlebar bag. The Pelican is another good alternative, especially for the lenses. I find it handy to leave the camera in the handlebar as it allows me to take pictures without dismounting.

Actually, I meant the Arkel tail rider. I could have sworn it was called Arkel Pelican...

I leave my SLR at home and only carry a Cannon point and shoot. What I give up in capabilities I get back in lightweight, ease of use and ability to take pictures in a few seconds. I also take really fun on bike action shots with the point and shoot.

I carry only a simple digital camera with a couple of spare memory cards. On tour I upload the pictures to CrazyGuy and then I can delete them from the memory cards. Don't need a bunch of stuff for the simple pictures that I take.

I also take a small digital camera. It's another part of my campaign with myself to avoid carrying too much weight. I have a Kodak that my school gave me. I like it because it's small and light but has a good-sized lcd screen, good zoom, takes pretty good pictures, and only 2 AA batteries. (My previous digital took 4, which added to the weight considerably. I only carry one big memory card. If I should fill it (it holds something like 600 pictures) I'd stop and buy another card, but that hasn't happened yet. I wasn't able to upload pictures to CrazyGuy from the library I stopped at on my last tour, so I don't rely on that.

My Vaude handlebar bag doubles as my camera bag. I bring a DSLR, a zoom lens, the battery charger and a couple of memory cards. I'll probably get a portable storage device like this for my tour this summer.

I already decide I will take on my next tour to Asia the 4 Ortliebs and in one I will have the Lowepro it fit on a backroller and of course ths camera on the handlerbag

Just started using the Topeak small size handlebar bag - it works really well for my SLR. During rain today I had no fears with the rain cover on. The best bit is now I'll probably start using that bag as a camera bag even when not on my bike, it works that well. I love getting off the bike, taking the bag, and having camera, wallet, phone, keys etc all together.

I could also take a compact easily in one of the side pockets, but haven't done so yet.

On previous trips, I've worn a bumbag while riding - that was ok too.

I carry quite a bit of photo gear sometimes and find handlebar bags either too small, too heavy, too akward off the bike, especially for long hikes (shoulder straps, ugh!). I carried a small backpack and figured I should use the backpack as handlebar bag.

I haven't even rode with this set-up yet but it's what I'll use from now on. It's a Lowepro bag (Orion Trekker) on a Surly front rack. Not very elegant but it works without straps in the way. The waist strap goes between the top and downtube and the shoulder straps go through the top handle and attached to the stem with a small strap with clip.

My only concern is the bottom of the bag banging on the rack. I might attach a piece of closed-cell foam to the rack or a rigid piece of plastic, either on the rack or inside the bag.

That looks pretty good - if you have a front pannier rack with shelf. Only downside is the zip opens away from you.

Hi,

I carry the body + 3 lenses + memory cards in the handlebar bag. I have the Ortlieb 9 L Ulitmate.

External flash, battery charger are in one of pannier. If I plan to visit caves the external flash is on top of a low rider pannier otherwise in one of the rear pannier.

I would carry a notebook always in rear pannier, because I would need it only in the evening and the cloths protect the notebook a bit.
