I just got my Long Haul trucker complete size 50cm. It rides great except I have been getting some chain slap when in the big/small combo and when I stop pedaling the chain will slap the top of the chain stay. I checked chain length using the big/big method and it is right on. I also tried to check the hub and it seems to move smoothly.

Any Ideas What to check next?

MOST likely - friction in the freehub is using the mechanical advantage in the high gear ratio to push the chain after you stop pedalling.

take off cassette, if Shimano, feed 10?mm allen key into the freehub, remove and lube the freehub from the back side with thin lube. or just keep pedaling. some freehubs are freer than others!

I was hoping it was not that. The bike is brand new and I should go back to the dealer I bought it at but it is over a hour a way in the city and would probably cost me the same amount in gas as it would to get it serviced at a local shop. I was reading how to do it on the park tools website but I am worried I am going to mess it up or lose some bearings.
Maybe I will give it a try

unfortunately, it is probably that. Get it serviced at a local shop, it will be relatively inexpensive.
