SPD shoes - large sizes?
Hey everyone!
I'm having a terrible time finding SPD touring/mountain biking shoes in US Size 14/Euro49
I've scoured Google, nashbar, performance, etc, etc.
I'm looking for something that I can commute in and use for my upcoming tour in California. I would prefer something I can walk somewhat comfortably in for when I'm off the bike.
If anyone has any source for larger size SPD shoes (bought the pedals/can't find the shoes!) I would greatly appreciate any help.
My price range is 70-100$, but I'm willing to spend a *little* more if the quality is really there.
Thanks in advance - I hope someone can help!

BTW - I'm using the Nashbar sizing chart for reference on Euro conversion
Shimano 48 = 13 (which is usually too small from experience)
link to chart: https://www.nashbar.com/sizesearch.cfm
Thanks again!

I happened to find some 49Euro/14 US bike shoes and larger at Rincon Cycles in Carpinteria,California.
805-684-9466 Ask for Dennis the owner if possible. He has the large feet.

Good question.
I'm a 48 and have a hard time finding shoes, usually browse shoes by what fits and what doesn't first before type/style.
That said, I got lucky and found a pair of shimano mountain shoes, probably the basic model, at a LBS last year. Some stores carry big sizes, some don't. Some only had up to 45... Maybe give them a try instead of online.

I love my Sidi Dominator Megas...but they are out of the price range you outlined.

I'm a 14/49 also.
Not sure if anyone makes a 49, most seem to jump from 48 to 50.
Have a pair of Sidi in size 50 (don't recall the model) which fit fairly well.
About two months ago i went to the Louis Garneau factory outlet store in newport, vt;
in the corner they had a pile of shoes and among them was a roughed up box marked
size 50. The shoes inside were also 50s, which fit great- IMO better than the Sidi;
or perhaps it was the $10 price tag. In either case they are now my favorite shoe for
riding the recumbent.

specialized!!!
i wear 49's too and love their shoes.
When looking for 49's on their web page, beware that only one or 2 models come in size 49. I think the MTB shoes I own are the BodyGeometry Comps. They were around $120 when I got them.
Specialized, FTW!!
