anyone ever tour a trek 1220?

hey, thinking of getting a 1220, but only want to get if i can tour on it. dont care to much about comfort, just curious about the geometry, strength etc. it looks stock, with decent comps. Im not too particular, I toured from NYC to new orleans on a motobecane mirage from bikesdirect a couple years ago and no problems so im not looking for anything fancy. just not sure if this is a straight up racing bike and cant find anything on google. thanks, Lou

Sure, why can't you use a Trek 1220 for touring? After all, almost any bike that fits you and your budget will work. That was my bike (with trailer) when I toured coast to coast. It was a popular bike, and didn't realize that Trek was still making the model.

Lou, didn't realize I was competing with you, but I think I bought that 1220 you were looking at. Bought it on ebay while on vacation. My first road bike in almost 30 years. It may be 10 years old but things sure have changed. I'm 6'5" and it feels made for me. Light, fast and easy to ride, although 25-30 miles are my longest rides
