so what do you do when your pots are unstable on the tiny gas stove ,i bought the optimus crux stove it's a great little stove loads features but the arm's are very small to support the pot , in my humble opinion, im sure all such stoves have simular problems .so can i make or buy something that will solve the shakey pot problem thanks..
I have the same stove, what size are your pots? I haven't been out yet with it, but tried cooking on it yesterday for the first time. I have the GSI Bugaboo small, it's a 191 and 165mm cookset and didn't have problems with it. If I would use larger pots/pans, it would definitely be too small.
good to hear from you lollypop you must have been touring in far away places.
ill give thayt idea a go might just work thanks.
say lolly pop have you any good routes i could have a look at camping of course (ireland)
hiya anto, how're you doing? Alas, I haven't been off in any far-flung fields. . . at least not on the bike!
I quite like the north coast, anto. You can take the Enterprise up to Belfast, and then another train to that area. I camped at Sheep Island View hostel near Carrick-a-rede last year. It was small (like a back garden really) but you had use of the hostel facilities for cooking and showering. You're near to the Giant's Causeway, Dunluce Castle, and Bushmills. I like the area. Great vistas everywhere you look!
I was thinking of a camping trip to Strangford one weekend. There's a National Trust campground there, and while it's basic, it does the job. Some lovely cycling around there, again, along the coast, great views all over.
lolly pop thats fantastic, i was thinking i want to tour from my front door,if i head north i would go first to carlinford to newry proberly camp in either place for the night emm not sure whay route to take after that.
but i cant do this tour for a while yet im waiting to buy my tent and sleeping bag just that i need to get all my gear sorted and my route then im off .
ps my mind gone blank where is strangford.thanks Lolly Pop..

Hi Anto, Strangford's opposite Portaferry, at the tip of the Ards Peninsula. From Newry you'd take the Downpatrick Road. Strangford is past D'patrick, about ten miles.
Have you considered using hostels until you get your tent and sleeping bags? All my cycling mates up here always hostel, none of them camp. I am the odd one out! There's a nice hostel in Portaferry. The UCD divers are there all the time, and my bike club uses it for the odd weekend trip. Barholm, it's called.
thanks lolly pop never taught about hostels ill check all that info out ,emm im still very keen on the camping thing think it would be more of an adventure,as long as i can shower at the end of the days cycling im a happy man.
thanks for that lolly pop ,the tent i have my eye on weighs practally nothing as does the sleeping bag.all this light weight gear is fantastic so i dont mind carrying camping gear i was trying to sell my fantastic bianchi road bike to pay for tent and s/bag but there was a change of mind on the buyers part ah well pity,
thanks for the link ill check them out im not quiet sixty yet but i know what you mean thanks
